“One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above those who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.” NIV
So where is this place David longed to dwell? It was the very presence of God.
In the warmer months, I love to spend quiet moments with the Lord on my back porch, enjoying the sun and the birds, the outdoor smells, and the blue sky. In these colder school months, I rise early before the day and cuddle on my couch with the fireplace blazing and a hot cup of coffee. Then I open the Word of God and there He is.
Every day, no matter how I come before Him – joyful and alert, sleepy and tired, discouraged or ashamed – He is there in all of His beauty, faithful to speak His Words of life and truth to my heart. That is the place I long to be. That is the place of security and peace. That is where my heart sings.
Where is that place for you?
